Due to their characteristics, jet helmets are the favorite of a large group of motorcyclists. This type of helmet is particularly comfortable to put on and take off, as well as particularly comfortable because it dispenses with the chin guard and does not completely envelop the head, leaving only the top and sides of the shell as a protective element in the event of an impact. This has its pros and cons.

Because of the comfort we are talking about, many riders choose jet helmets for scooters. They are especially versatile in the city and for people who are constantly getting on and off the motorcycle. In addition, they respond to a very particular aesthetic that in recent years is gaining popularity: the urban biker with a certain retro touch. Custom, Vintage, Cafe Racer, even Harley? helmets of this type have a place in many styles.

Compared to a full-face or modular helmet, the jet helmet has a greater active safety thanks to the large field of peripheral vision it offers, compared to the reduced screens and the smaller field of vision of closed or semi-open helmets. This type of open helmet allows the rider to make the best use of all his senses while riding: the ears are more open, the vision is much better... in short, he is more aware of everything that is going on around him.

The best helmet for summer

Summer is the time of year when you see more of these helmets on the roads. Being much more open, they are ideal for the hottest seasons, where some air in the face is welcome. In addition, some models of helmets of this type come with large screens that protect from external elements such as small stones or traces of air, or visors to prevent the sun from blinding your eyes.

Sunglasses are also appreciated in many of these models. As in other types of helmets, with a small movement of a side piece we can have sunglasses to protect us from UV radiation and prevent the sun from blinding us.

Being generally cheaper helmets, it is a good option to buy a jet helmet for some weeks where the heat is harder, and keep the main helmet for the rest of the year.

Safety

Passive safety is the main drawback of this type of motorcycle helmet. As they are lighter and cooler, they sacrifice some safety in case of an accident, both in terms of impact absorption capacity and because they are not protected in the chin guard area. In any case, if it is an approved helmet and of proven brands such as those we have in MotoCenter Levante (Shoei, HJC, Schuberth givi...) you can feel safe and especially light on the back of your motorcycle with a jet helmet.

Reasons to buy a motorcycle jet helmet

If you want greater comfort, lightness in driving and you are an urban motorcyclist with special mobility, this may be your type of helmet. It is especially easy to put on and take off, which makes it the best choice for those who are constantly getting on and off the bike.

If you also spend hot on the bike in the hottest summer months and you need air to reach your face to avoid sweating and gain comfort, you should also choose this type of helmet, even if only to use it in the hottest months, combining it with your other helmet.
